Don't forget to breathe is an original piece of artwork painted with acrylics and other mixed media on raw canvas. This is one of 3 paintings in the mini series with the same name.

I call this a mini-series not because it's a series of small paintings (they're large and perfect btw) but because there's a limited number of pieces in the series. Since I try to include different sizes for different collectors at different budget points, one series can end up having 10+ paintings in it. This time was different.

I wanted to experiment with creating 3 pieces all using the same color family. My attempt at coloring in the lines if you will. If you take a look at my other collections you'll notice that they have the same look and feel in the marks and strokes I use but each has it's own unique color combination. This series is all about the layers - the longer you look at them the more you find. Each layer is painted on one-at-a-time and allowed to dry in between creating a sense of depth. I invite you to click into each and take a look at all the details in the photos. I started with a moody palette of muted yellows, mauves, amethyst, deep black-brown and milky white. I layered the pieces and tipped them with more detailed finishing marks, shapes, and tiny pops of color.

I named this series "Don't forget to breathe" to remind myself that often times when we don't think we have the answers we really do. It's just a matter of taking the time we need to take some deep breathes and move. Action is always the answer.
