This one feels the most architectural of the series—rust and terracotta blocks stacked and layered like something being built, with cool gray-blue and black marks threading through to hold it all together. The composition reads more structured than loose, like the piece is laying something down rather than letting it drift.
The palette comes from the same Northern Flicker photo that shaped the whole series, with the deeper terracotta and rust taking the lead here. Groundwork felt like the obvious name since the piece has this sense of foundation, of something being set in place before anything else can happen.
